Externally, the A3 takes design ques from it's Q3 SUV brother, sporting the latest sleek headlight design and wide grill. Dynamic door recesses create a striking side-on view as the light hits, whilst the addition of roof rails adds height and another contrast point to the car.

Inside, the very dated dashboard has finally been revamped; the ageing flip-up screen has been replaced with a flush centre infotainment screen molded nicely into the dashboard. It includes a DAB+ digital radio which comes standard and an online or hybrid radio is available as an option. The SatNav comes with high-resolution images from Google earth, whilst the A3 Sportback can also linked to a smartphone through either the myAudi app, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, as well as through the Audi phone box. The seats inside the new A3 are made from recycled PET bottles and come with stylish contrasting stitching.

The new 2021 Audi A3 Sportback comes with both TDI and TFSI engines that are high in efficiency and power. From launch there will initally be three engine variants: a 1.5 TFSI petrol unit with 147hp, and a 2.0 TDI diesel unit configured to 114 hp or 147hp outputs. The A3 will be predominantly linked up a with front-wheel drive powertain, with power transmitted by a six-speed manual transmission or the quick-shifting seven-speed S tronic.
